So, the armor that I have for the Iroh cosplay is gorgeous, but is also made of craft foam, and so has a limited lifespan. It doesn't ship well, and since I'm always trying to make certain that it doesn't dent or the paint doesn't chip, it's hard to give people really good, proper hugs.
Thankfully, that may be changing in the future! A good friend of mine does leather armor, and has agreed to recreate the extant armor in something far sturdier for me. It'll also actually connect in a way that makes sense (as opposed to velcro, constantly adjusting the parts, and a lot of prayer ), and be hug- and glomp-capable. There are also hopefully better boots coming my way, since I just found this: www.etsy.com/listing/81258259/…, they even have the proper curly toes!
Ack, only a day and a half left until I get on a plane to fly to Maryland and go do staff reg for Katsucon! There seem to be far more things that need doing now that it's the last minute than I had really considered in the past. The armor's been mailed off to the hotel, and should hopefully be there by Thursday. I'm still floundering about in the mess that is my closet and my costumes, trying to find all of the pieces for everything, but with luck, I'll have it all together for departure.
Anybody else going? I'll be out and about at the con as well as in staff registration, so I might see you around.
